Wednesday Wish (9)

Her perfect life fell apart, ending in divorce.
‘How unlucky’ they all said.
Maybe yes, maybe no.

Because she was alone, it was easier for her to follow her heart.
Her heart took her to Mexico.
‘How lucky’ they all said.
Maybe yes, maybe no.

Because she left her good paying job in the US, she didn’t have the money to buy many of the things she used to enjoy.
‘How unlucky’ they all said.
Maybe yes, maybe no.

Because she had fewer things, life became a lot more simple.
‘How lucky’ they all said.
Maybe yes, maybe no.

Perception. We think with discerning minds but sometimes we forget that we can train our minds to perceive what we want them to perceive. Lucky or unlucky….we can be either one in any situation, but depending on what we chose to perceive, we usually end up feeling just one or the other.

My Wednesday Wish for you?

To chose lucky. Not when the world says you are lucky but right now, with whatever is going on in your life because you feel it. And if you don’t feel it, chose to feel it, make it so. Go ahead, say I'M LUCKY! Because you are lucky if you believe yourself to be. It’s as simple as that.

First, I liked the end of each stanza 'maybe yes, maybe no'. Perfect. Perception I find is something the 'viewer' is projecting. Rarely is it exact.. I think anyway. Earlier this morning I gave myself a bit of lashing about this and that, or rather why this or that, and having read your words (which always remind me of the most important things) I am declaring I am lucky. Maybe today I am also going let go off any negativity that followed me from my sleep and declare, as Mary Poppins said, I am practically perfect in every way. :-) It's a thought.

I like this! I agree about perception but I also like the double meaning of the words. That often luck and unluck are partners in dance. They exist simutaniously. We become gracefull only when we learn to dance the steps of both as a willing partner.

Brynne, my heart is open and these words just wrote themselves.

Love you also, you amazing girl who dances through my heart!

Love that repetition of 'maybe yes maybe no' - it's all in how you look at it. We've got to keep learning to look at the better side of the coin...

Brynne said...

thats right, Deniz! I know I do!:) And then once it becomes an ingrained habit, it becomes easier and easier, don't you think? love your words, Deniz!

Brynne, I want you to know, you anchor me. On days when I feel I'm floating away because of how mundane everything seems to be, you anchor me. On nights when I'm ready to fly away with the boredom of it all, you anchor me. I can always trust your words to bring me back home because they remind me that anything is possible. Perception. Do we choose to perceive negativity or positivity? What moves us to perceive things one way versus another. I would dare say attitude greatly influences how we perceive things. That's why I keep coming back to this blog. Because it keeps me feeling alive, enlightened, and positive! Lovely, lovely poem! Hugs for you, dear friend!

Ahhh, Bella. What a gift you are to all who know you...I am just so honored that you find a part of yourSelf here, that you want to come back again and again. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your heart and for honoring who you are enough to be able to share your beautiful Self with all of us. Hugs back, dear friend:)
