Wednesday Wish (32)

I believe in quiet. In the gifts that linger in silence.

Like the night sky that looks empty but is filled with stars and other goodies that I don’t know the names of yet.

And the possibilities, pregnant, of an empty canvas. Or a mixing bowl. Or a piano with its bench pulled out, inviting fingers and emotion and soul…

*          *          *

I believe in quiet. In the gifts that linger in silence.

Like a blank message from someone you’d love to hear from, blank with all the space in the world for anything you want it to be.

And a single breath, held deep inside your belly just before you decide to let it free…

*          *          *

I believe in quiet. In the gifts that linger in silence.

In the importance of alone time. Of sitting and staring at the ceiling time. Of moment upon moment with no rush. No requirement. No worry or fret. Just time. Alone. To listen to the sound of inner silence….

…that isn’t so silent after all, but filled with Self, with peace, and with gorgeous invitations to just be.

Brynne, I have a confession: I don't like solitude but I enjoy alone time. Alone time which I haven't experienced in the last 20 years. Although I should count the stolen moments in the bathroom, shouldn't I? Seriously though, I totally get what this post is saying. Alone time is pivotal if we are to connect with our self, listen to our hearts and the inner silence you mention. Roxy has brought much joy to my life but the little minx deprives me of this much needed silence. As a result, I find myself tapping into these resources when I'm in bed, right before I fall asleep. Do you think I'm still making the connection? Please tell me that I am! Hugs for you, sweet Brynne! :)

Dear, sweet Bella...the way I see it, the best thing all of us can ever do, is be where we are. You are perfect wherever you are.:) And as far as silence...I didn't really mean sounds...even though the absence of sound does sometimes help...I meant more of an inner silence. Time to be quiet within. Believe you me...with a toddler I have little silence, too...but I do watch myself soar higher when I give myself the gift of quiet within..with my thoughts and worries and rush. Always love your words, bright soul. And I love you!

I'm a very friendly and outgoing Pirate, and love the noisy and exuberant times I spend with friends. That said, I do enjoy solitude, and the inner / outer peace that can come from it. I love to think, to ponder, to see, to......

Silence is like sight, in that the closer you look, the more you see (and hear). With each movement deeper into the moment, I see large things on a smaller and smaller scale, as my my expands to accept the infinitesimal. I become the canvas, that the brushstrokes of life uses to paint the microcosms, and makes them visible. In the silence, I can reflect what I see.

2nd 'my' = mind, but you knew that. ;-)

As I age I find the attraction to solitude/silence grows greater. These days even when amongst a crowd I can drown them out and watch from a distance of inches because of the quiet seperation.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous...JOY! Yes...of course you like to have happy 'exuberant' times with your friends! And then yes...you dive just as deeply into your Self.:) What a RICH life you lead! Hmm...a pirate with a treasure chest bigger than any I have ever met...sounds like a lot of heart smiles to me!!:) What is your favorite red wine these days, by the way? I am heading north soon and want to start to get my palate excited...

I love to hear this, Jo. Life gets richer...as you age. Of course it does for you, Jo. Maybe thats why you touch so many of us so deeply and effectively, my friend.

My treasure chest is my heart, and it is always filled to overflowing.

I don't think I have a favorite wine, but any bold Cabernet is a friend of mine. :-) I always keep a variety of Cabernet's on my Pirate ship, for my own enjoyment, and the pleasure of company. You couldn't possibly head north, and not spend time on a Pirate ship, could you?

You are pure heart, my friend. I can feel that all the way from here. Always have known that about you:) I wish I could get the plane to drop me off to see you on my way up north. If I were driving, you know I'd stop by for SURE!:) If your pirate ship ever takes you north to Seattle...let me know. I will be there for a few months:)
