Wednesday Wish (2)

One of things I love most about Mexico is the love of COLOR. In the North we always talk about the new black. Why don’t we ever talk about the new scarlet or turquoise or shade of orange? Why is it more fashionable, appropriate, ‘cool’ to have a neutral colored home or a quiet colored car instead of something fun and alive? Today, my Wednesday Wish for you is to dare to add some COLOR to your life.

Maybe on your wall

Maybe in your bathroom

Maybe on your floor

But somewhere that makes you smile, feel alive, enjoy the COLORS of your world.

I completely agree. That's why I've loved every house I've moved into that (according to the realtors) has been painted perfectly "move-on neutral," though not for the reasons they think! I'm excited to have a blank canvas to add my own colors to :)

Visiting from the SheWrites blog hop. What beautiful pictures. I love colors too. They have such an affect on your emotions.

I love the colors of Mexico. My family is from the Southwest, similar but not exactly the same. My daughter is going to art school in Santa Fe ( I'm sure she is doing this to torture me because she knows it's one of my favorite places on earth) but at least I have a reason to hope a plane and visit..

With an imagination like yours, Shelley, I wouldn't be surprised if your house was FILLED with lots of color! Thanks for visiting:)

Thanks for popping by, Stacy! Colors do have an affect on emotions, don't they...feeling blue, seeing red, green with envy:) Another subtle (or not so subtle) tool we as writers can use to transmit emotion...

And Brenda...maybe you can hop on yet another plane to come play with me, too! (since we aren't that far from Santa Fe) Just don't come now. Its only one color. HOT! Always puts a smile on my face when you come visit my blog so I can only imagine there would be even MORE smiles if you came to visit in person...hugs!

I thought of you and your post about colors today as I watched a scene in a movie about the Indian Festival "Holi." If you don't know about this festival google it... just looking at the images makes me smile and smile. :)

I've always loved bold colors. Your photos are beautiful, the colors really pop out. I'm a big proponent of using such colors to decorate my home and am surrounded by their beauty. It doesn't hurt either, that I live close to the Mexican border, which is inspiring. Thanks for sharing! Just stopping by from She Writes blog hopper.

I am glad to have found your blog through the SheWrites Bloggers Ball!

Your photography is beautiful, thank you! I agree, it is so wonderful to be surrounded by such vibrant colors. It really feeds the soul, especially on a grey, hazy day like the one we are having in New Jersey!

This is why I always enjoy looking at houses in Holland. They always paint them such super cheerful colors with bright blue flower boxes. I too have always wondered why 'bland' is considered so desirable. My hubby says that when we shop I am like a butterfly. Its because I flutter over to anything colorful no matter what it is.

You *are* like a butterfly, dear Sara...fluttering around making people smile! And I love it that you also wonder why bland is desirable. Maybe because most of us are too overwhelmed and need to quiet out our surroundings to feel more at peace? Or is it a class/sophistication thing? That neutral is somehow seen as better? I am sure there are lots of reasons...and best of all...we all get to be wherever we are! I'm just glad you like color right along with me!! Hooray!
